How ToolIndexHub lists AI tools, and why every fact ha
There are thousands of AI tools, and new ones appear every week. Most lists of "the best AI tools" are hard to trust: rankings change without explanation, facts go out of date, and it is often unclear whether a tool paid to be there. We built ToolIndexHub to work differently. This post explains how.
What a listing contains
Every tool on ToolIndexHub has its own page with the same set of facts:
- What the tool does, in plain words
- Its pricing model, and whether there is a free plan
- The platforms it runs on, such as web, desktop or mobile
- Whether it offers an API for developers
- The categories it belongs to, and related tools
- A link to its official website
Using the same facts for every tool makes them easy to compare. You can open two to four tools side by side in Compare, or answer a few questions in Help me choose.
Every fact has a date
A price or a free plan is only true on the day someone checked it. AI tools change their plans often, so a fact without a date is not very useful. That is why each fact on a tool page shows when an editor last checked it against the official website.
Where a fact has not been checked yet, the page says Not verified yet. We never show a missing fact as "No", because that would claim we checked something we did not. Facts older than six months are marked as possibly out of date.
Where the facts come from
Facts come from each tool's official website and documentation. Our editors check them one tool at a time, and record the date and the source. This work is ongoing: a tool that has not been checked yet says so clearly on its page. When a vendor changes its plans, the listing is updated and the new date is shown.
If you spot something wrong or out of date, please tell us through the Contact page. We publish corrections rather than quietly changing pages.
Listings cannot be bought
No company can pay to be listed, to appear higher, or to be described differently. Listings are free. If ToolIndexHub ever has a commercial relationship with a tool, it will be disclosed on that tool's page. You can read the full rules in our Editorial policy.
No scores, yet
We do not score or rank tools today. A score only means something if a person has actually used the tool and the method behind the score is public. Before any score appears on ToolIndexHub, the method will be published on this site, and no score will be generated by AI.
Until then, lists are ordered by clear rules, such as the date a tool was added or updated, and never by who paid.
How to use the index
- Start with a category that matches your work, or search all tools.
- Open a few tool pages and look at the dated facts.
- Compare your shortlist side by side.
- Visit the official website of the tool you choose, and check the current price there before you pay.
If you build an AI tool and want it listed, you can submit it for review. Submissions are free, and every listing is reviewed by an editor before it is published.
